The inaugural Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is taking shape with a Ugx50million sponsorship package from Standard Chartered Bank Uganda, adding to support from Uganda Breweries.
“Just signed a sponsorship deal with @StanChartUGA for the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon happening on 3rd September 2022 in Kasese,” Amos Wekesa, the Great Lakes Safaris CEO and marathon organizer said in a tweet. “This year’s theme is “Creating a healthy lifestyle, climate preservation, and celebrating sports tourism,” he added.
About 2,000 people are expected to participate. Top runners in the 42km and 21 km categories (men and women) will share Ugx20 million in cash prizes.
